Take some time
today and ask to see your personnel file. Every
member has the opportunity to review your file
once a year. The company will schedule you 30
minutes to look at the file. Take a pen and
paper with you. If you find something you
aren't sure should be in your file make notes
about it. Ask the company for a copy of it.
If you find something in your file with verbiage
you don't want others to see ask the company to
remove it. If they don't agree contact your
local job steward. Take your opportunity today
and remember to view your file every year. You
want to know what the company has documented.

SETTLEMENT REACHED IN MASS DISCIPLINE
Mass discipline took place in the District when 223 employees were
given written warnings and 32 employees were terminated as a result
of alleged "unauthorized" access to account information. The action
was taken as a result of a computer audit conducted by the company
pertaining to employee access to accounts and in some instances
dated back several years.
Ron Collins, Administrative Director to District 2 Vice-President
Pete Catucci, along with other staff representatives from the
District worked to secure a settlement on behalf of the majority of
the employees impacted. Most of the discharged employees were
returned to work, "made whole", and related documentation was
removed from their files. Warnings were removed from the files of
those that had received written warnings.
CWA LOCAL 2001 IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THE
UPGRADE OF 21 MEMBERS FROM TERM TO PERMANENT POSITIONS!
This result came
about when CWA and Verizon reached a settlement in a
Maryland arbitration case where the Union had
challenged the “work completion” of several term employees.

Your Floating Holiday must
be scheduled 30 days in advance and that you can be made to
work that day, but you must be paid holiday pay if they make
you work? It also must be taken within the calendar year and

That if a holiday falls on a
Saturday the Company can schedule you off on any day of the
week, but if a holiday falls on a Sunday you must be
scheduled off on Monday. (Art. 30 of the Verizon contract,
top of page 54 )

You must call Metlife on the
8TH calendar day in order for your short term disability
benefits to flow correctly.
